About the Role Our client, a premier courier and express delivery company, is seeking an experienced Senior Courier and Delivery Specialist to be based in George, Western Cape. This pivotal role involves managing and executing high-priority deliveries, ensuring punctuality, security, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of logistics, exceptional driving skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced environment. As a senior member of the team, you will also be expected to mentor junior drivers and contribute to the optimization of delivery routes and operations within the George area and its surroundings. This position is critical for maintaining the high standards of service our client is known for.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute time-sensitive and critical deliveries of packages and documents with utmost care and efficiency.
• Operate company vehicles (ranging from sedans to light trucks) safely and professionally, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
• Plan optimal delivery routes within George and the wider Western Cape region, utilizing GPS and local knowledge.
• Perform rigorous pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, maintaining detailed records and promptly reporting any maintenance needs.
• Ensure all delivered items are handled securely, tracking shipments from pickup to final delivery.
• Provide exceptional customer service, acting as a brand ambassador during all client interactions.
• Assist in the training and mentoring of new courier staff, sharing best practices in driving, delivery, and customer service.
• Manage and resolve delivery exceptions or issues promptly and effectively, minimizing disruption.
• Maintain accurate delivery logs, mileage reports, and customer proof of delivery.
• Contribute to operational improvements by identifying inefficiencies and proposing solutions.

Requirements

• A valid driver's license (Code B or higher) with a clean driving record is mandatory.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in courier services, delivery, or a related logistics field.
• Proven experience with route planning and navigation in George and Western Cape areas.
• Ability to handle physical demands, including lifting and carrying packages.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think quickly under pressure.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Proficiency in using navigation devices and delivery tracking software.
