Key Responsibilities

• Advise clients on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and other corporate transactions.
• Manage transaction processes, including due diligence, drafting and negotiating transaction agreements, and closing procedures.
• Conduct legal research and analysis on corporate and securities law matters.
• Draft and review various corporate documents, such as shareholder agreements, articles of association, and resolutions.
• Liaise with clients, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders throughout transaction lifecycles.
• Assist with corporate restructuring and governance matters.
• Provide strategic legal advice to clients on corporate strategy and risk mitigation.
• Supervise and mentor junior associates and legal support staff.
• Stay abreast of developments in corporate law and M&A market trends in East London, Eastern Cape .
• Contribute to business development and client relationship management.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with a minimum of 6 years of post-qualification experience, specifically in corporate M&A.
• Demonstrated experience managing significant M&A transactions from inception to completion.
• Strong understanding of corporate law, securities regulations, and deal structuring.
• Excellent legal drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage complex transactions with tight deadlines.
• Strong client relationship skills and a commercial mindset.
• Fluency in English is essential.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to East London, Eastern Cape .
• A proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
