Placements24 seeks a Senior Control Systems Engineer in Soweto to design, implement, and maintain advanced control systems for critical energy infrastructure. You will work on automation, instrumentation, and data acquisition within power generation and distribution networks.

Responsibilities include developing control strategies, cybersecurity measures, and rigorous testing, with collaboration across projects, operations, and maintenance to ensure safe, reliable operation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years of experience designing and implementing industrial control systems.
• Proficiency with Siemens, Rockwell, ABB PLC/DCS and SCADA software.
• Strong understanding of control theory, digital signal processing, and power system dynamics.
• Experience with Modbus, Profibus, DNP3 and cybersecurity best practices for ICs.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and commission industrial control systems (ICS), including PLCs, SCADA, DCS, and HMI applications.
• Develop control strategies and algorithms for power generation, transmission, and distribution systems to optimize performance and ensure stability.
• Specify and select instrumentation, sensors, actuators, and communication hardware.
• Implement cybersecurity measures to protect critical control systems from threats.
• Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for control system failures or performance issues.
• Collaborate with project teams, operations, and maintenance personnel to ensure seamless integration and reliable operation of control systems.
