About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Senior Control Systems Engineer to join their team in Soweto . Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and commission industrial control systems (ICS), including PLCs, SCADA, DCS, and HMI applications.
- Develop control strategies and algorithms for power generation, transmission, and distribution systems to optimize performance and ensure stability.
- Specify and select appropriate instrumentation, sensors, actuators, and communication hardware.
- Implement cybersecurity measures to protect critical control systems from threats.
- Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for control system failures or performance issues.
- Collaborate with project teams, operations, and maintenance personnel to ensure seamless integration and reliable operation of control systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in designing and implementing control systems for industrial applications, preferably in the energy sector.
- Proficiency with major PLC/DCS platforms (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, ABB) and SCADA software.
- Strong understanding of control theory, digital signal processing, and power system dynamics.
- Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, DNP3) and cybersecurity best practices for ICs.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
