Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Control Systems Engineer to join their team near East London, SA. The role designs, implements, and maintains advanced control systems for mining and processing operations, driving performance, safety, and efficiency.

You will mentor junior engineers, troubleshoot complex issues, and lead projects from conception to completion in a dynamic industrial environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics.
• Minimum 7 years in industrial control systems.
• Strong PLC/SCADA/DCS and SIS experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and commission SCADA, PLC, and DCS systems for industrial automation in mining and processing plants.
• Develop and implement control strategies, algorithms, and logic to optimize process performance and ensure operational stability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues related to control systems, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Collaborate with process engineers, mechanical engineers, and operations personnel to define control system requirements and integrate new solutions.
• Manage control system projects, including scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, and vendor coordination.
