Placements24 is seeking a skilled Process Control Engineer for our client in Mahikeng, operating on a hybrid basis. You will design, implement, and maintain advanced control systems to optimize chemical processes, working with process engineers and operations to meet production and regulatory requirements.

The role offers exposure to challenging automation projects in a key industrial sector, with a focus on safe, efficient, and reliable plant performance through sophisticated control strategies

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• ≥5 years of process control engineering experience in chemical/industrial settings.
• Experience with DCS platforms and PLC programming.
• Strong knowledge of process dynamics, instrumentation, and control theory.
• Experience with alarm management and SIS.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; works well solo and in teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and program DCS/PLCs.
• Develop and implement advanced process control strategies (MPC, PID tuning).
• Troubleshoot control systems, instrumentation, and automation hardware/software.
• Collaborate with process engineers to define control philosophies and requirements.
• Develop and maintain documentation for control systems (logic diagrams, cause-and-effect matrices, instrument lists).
• Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance on automation systems.
