Job summary

thyssenkrupp Uhde South Africa seeks a lead electrical/electronic engineer to drive front-end and detailed design for energy and chemical projects. You will interact with clients to understand expectations, perform lead engineer duties, participate in PFD/ P&ID reviews, SIL reviews, and develop control system design including control narratives and documentation for shutdown systems.

Qualifications

• BSc./B.Eng. Electrical/ Electronic Engineering required.
• 8+ years engineering experience in a contracting environment.
• Experience in energy and chemical/refining/petrochemical industries.
• ECSA registration preferred.
• Experience with brownfield project execution.
• NEC knowledge advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Interact with the client to understand and deliver to Client’s expectations.
• Performing lead engineer role on various projects.
• Participate in PFD and P&ID Reviews, HAZOP, 3D model and constructability reviews.
• Lead or participate in SIL Reviews.
• Perform manpower planning and project schedule management for the projects where a lead engineer role is held.
• Perform scoping exercises on site.
• Develop the control system design for the project including control narratives and supporting documents for the control and shutdown systems.
• DCS and ESD functional design.
• Development of SIL documentation. SIL verification and functional safety design.
• Development of complex control narratives.
• Instrument selection (including technology selection) and specifications.
• Develop documentation for the field instrumentation design including data sheets, wiring and loop drawings and bill of

Your profile

The successful candidate must be in possession of a BSc./ B.Eng. Electrical/ Electronic Engineering degree with 8 years engineering experience in a contracting environment working on projects in the energy and chemical/ refining / petrochemical industries.

Professional Registration with ECSA is preferable.

A working knowledge of NEC would be an added advantage

Experience in brownfield project execution.
