Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Senior Construction Supervisor to oversee a major commercial development in Port Elizabeth. This hands-on role requires directing site crews, enforcing safety standards, and delivering quality outcomes on schedule.

The ideal candidate has at least 6 years of supervisory experience in construction, strong leadership and communication skills, and a proven ability to coordinate trades and subcontractors on busy projects in a demanding environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years of supervisory experience in construction.

• Strong knowledge of building codes and safety standards.
• Able to read and interpret blueprints and specs.

Responsibilities

You will provide hands‑on leadership and direct supervision to site crews and subcontractors, managing daily operations and resolving on‑the‑spot challenges. This is a hands‑on, field‑based position requiring a strong presence on‑site, a commitment to safety, and the ability to guide teams towards successful project completion in a demanding environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise daily construction activities, ensuring tasks are completed on schedule and to quality benchmarks.
• Implement and enforce all health and safety regulations on site, conducting regular inspections and safety briefings.
• Coordinate the work of tradespeople, laborers, and subcontractors, ensuring effective teamwork and communication.
• Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications, and ensure construction aligns with these documents.
• Manage on‑site materials and equipment, ensuring availability and proper usage.
• Report on site progress, issues, and resource needs to the Project Manager regularly.
