Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Concept Artist for a hybrid role in Benoni, Gauteng. You will conceptualize and visualize characters, creatures, props and environments for upcoming projects, guiding stylistic direction and ensuring narrative coherence.

The role requires a strong portfolio, expert drawing and digital painting skills, and the ability to collaborate with art leadership. You will mentor junior artists and contribute to a high-quality artistic language.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience as a Concept Artist with a strong portfolio.
• Proficiency in Photoshop or Procreate.
• Strong understanding of anatomy, perspective, color theory and lighting.
• Experience with 3D concepting tools (ZBrush, Blender, Maya) is a plus.
• Ability to mentor junior artists and work in hybrid remote/in-office setup.
• Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Illustration, Digital Art, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Create high-quality concept art for characters, creatures, environments, props, and vehicles.
• Develop visual styles and mood boards based on briefs.
• Collaborate with art directors to ensure visual consistency.
• Research references to ensure historical, cultural, or fantastical accuracy.
• Present concepts clearly to team and stakeholders.
• Mentor junior artists and contribute to overall artistic vision.
• Stay updated on industry trends and techniques.
