About the Role

Our client, a globally recognized leader in advanced engineering simulations and design optimization, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Specialist to join their innovative team. This is a fully remote position, offering you the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa. You will play a pivotal role in developing and applying advanced CFD methodologies to solve complex fluid flow, heat transfer, and combustion problems across various industries, including automotive, aerospace, and energy. The ideal candidate possesses a deep theoretical understanding of fluid dynamics and extensive practical experience with industry-standard CFD software. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct complex CFD simulations for external and internal aerodynamics, thermal management, and multiphase flows.
• Develop and validate CFD models, including meshing strategies, solver setups, and post-processing workflows.
• Perform sensitivity analyses and uncertainty quantification for simulation results.
• Interpret simulation data and provide actionable insights to engineering design teams.
• Develop custom scripts and post-processing tools to automate workflows and enhance efficiency.
• Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to define simulation objectives and requirements.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in CFD technology, algorithms, and best practices.
• Mentor junior CFD engineers and analysts, providing technical guidance and support.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal CFD libraries and best practice guidelines.
• Present findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with a specialization in CFD.
• A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in applying CFD to solve real-world engineering problems.
• Expert proficiency with commercial CFD software packages such as ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, or OpenFOAM.
• Strong theoretical foundation in fluid mechanics, turbulence modeling, and numerical methods.
• Experience with meshing software (e.g., ANSYS Meshing, Pointwise) and advanced meshing techniques.
• Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, TCL, or Perl for automation and post-processing.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts clearly.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
• Experience in high-performance computing (HPC) environments is a plus.
