Placements24 is seeking a Senior Computational Biologist to lead analysis of large-scale genomic data, develop novel algorithms, and collaborate with a global network of scientists. This remote-first role is based in Midrand, Gauteng, SA, offering flexible hours and opportunities for impactful scientific work.

You will design pipelines for RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, and WGS, apply ML models, and contribute to grants and publications while mentoring junior researchers in a collaborative, results-driven

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in bioinformatics or related quantitative field.
• 5+ years post-doctoral/industry experience in computational biology.
• Strong programming in Python and R; proficient in Linux/Unix environment.

Responsabilités

• Design and implement bioinformatics pipelines for high-throughput sequencing data analysis (RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, WGS).
• Develop and apply statistical and machine learning models to identify biological patterns and generate hypotheses.
• Collaborate with experimental biologists and clinicians to interpret genomic and proteomic data.
• Manage and curate large-scale biological datasets; ensure data integrity and accessibility.
• Contribute to grant proposals and scientific publications.
• Mentor junior researchers and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
