Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Senior Compliance Officer to strengthen the Regulatory Affairs team in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape. You will develop, implement, and monitor compliance programs, conduct internal audits, and advise on regulatory matters within a hybrid work model.

Ideal candidates have 6+ years in compliance or regulatory roles, strong SA insurance regulation knowledge, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in a compliance or regulatory role, preferably within the insurance or financial services industry.
• Strong knowledge of South African insurance legislation and regulatory frameworks (e.g., FAIS Act, FICA, POPIA).
• Experience developing and implementing compliance programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance policies and procedures.
• Monitor adherence to relevant legislation, regulations, and internal policies across all business units.
• Conduct regular compliance reviews and internal audits to identify potential risks and areas for improvement.
• Investigate compliance breaches and recommend corrective actions.

About the Role

Our client, a dynamic entity within the insurance sector, is seeking a seasoned Senior Compliance Officer to strengthen their Regulatory Affairs team in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape . This role is integral to ensuring the company operates in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance programs, conducting internal audits, and advising stakeholders on regulatory matters. This position involves a hybrid work model, providing a blend of in-office collaboration and remote flexibility in the scenic Port Elizabeth region.

Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in a compliance or regulatory role, preferably within the insurance or financial services industry.
• Thorough understanding of South African insurance legislation and regulatory frameworks (e.g., FAIS Act, FICA, POPIA).
• Proven experience in developing and implementing compliance programs.
• Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex regulations clearly.
• High level of integrity and ethical conduct.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Experience with compliance management software is a plus.
• Comfortable with the hybrid work model based in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape .
