Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Senior Cloud Security Engineer to join a fully remote team with a Stellenbosch hub. You will design, implement, and manage security solutions across AWS, Azure, and GCP, ensuring compliance and resilience of cloud infrastructure.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in cybersecurity with deep cloud security expertise, scripting (Python/Bash), and strong IAM and container security knowledge. Certifications are welcome.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 7+ years of cybersecurity experience with a focus on cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash) for automation.
• Deep understanding of IAM and cloud network security in cloud environments.
• Experience with container security (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Relevant cloud security certifications (AWS/Security, Azure Security).

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain cloud security architectures across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Develop and automate security policies, compliance checks, and operational procedures in cloud environments.
• Conduct security reviews of cloud infrastructure, applications, and services; mitigate risks.
• Implement and manage cloud-native security tools (firewalls, WAFs, IAM, encryption).
• Lead incident response for cloud security events; ensure rapid containment and resolution.
• Collaborate with DevOps to embed security throughout the application lifecycle (DevSecOps).

This pivotal role focuses on designing, implementing, and managing security solutions within cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP). You will be instrumental in ensuring the security, compliance, and resilience of our cloud infrastructure, developing robust security architectures, and automating security processes. The ideal candidate is a proactive, self-driven individual with deep expertise in cloud security best practices and a passion for innovation in cybersecurity.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain cloud security architectures and controls across AWS, Azure, and GCP platforms.
• Develop and automate security policies, compliance checks, and operational procedures within cloud environments.
• Conduct security reviews of cloud infrastructure, applications, and services, identifying and mitigating risks.
• Implement and manage cloud-native security tools and services, such as firewalls, WAFs, IAM, and encryption solutions.
• Lead incident response efforts for cloud-based security events, ensuring rapid containment and resolution.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to embed security best practices throughout the cloud application lifecycle (DevSecOps).
