Placements24 is seeking a Senior Cloud Architect to join a fully remote team. You will design, architect, and implement robust AWS cloud solutions for diverse clients, including engagements in the Sandton area within Gauteng.

The role emphasizes leadership, strategic roadmaps, and secure, scalable architectures across multi-client portfolios. You will mentor engineers, drive IaC practices with Terraform/CloudFormation, and collaborate with global teams to deliver transformative cloud projects

Qualifications

• 8+ years IT architecture experience with at least 5 years focused on AWS.
• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent extensive experience.
• Deep expertise across AWS compute, storage, networking, databases, security, and management tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and architecture of cloud-native solutions on AWS.
• Develop cloud strategy documents, roadmaps, and architectural blueprints.
• Translate client requirements into cost-effective, secure cloud solutions.
• Provide technical leadership on AWS services, best practices and emerging tech.
• Oversee migration of applications/infrastructure to AWS and ensure security/compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and architecture of cloud-native solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

• Provide technical leadership and guidance on AWS services, best practices, and emerging technologies.
• Oversee the implementation and migration of applications and infrastructure to the AWS cloud.

• Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to ensure successful solution delivery.

Requirements

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent extensive experience.
• 8+ years of experience in IT architecture, with at least 5 years focused on designing and implementing AWS solutions.
• Deep expertise in a wide range of AWS services, including compute, storage, networking, databases, security, and management tools.
• Proven experience with cloud migration strategies and execution.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure as code (IaC) principles and tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless computing.
• Excellent knowledge of network security, data security, and compliance frameworks.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and influence stakeholders.
• AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional) are highly desirable.
