Placements24 is seeking a Senior Cloud Solutions Architect for a fully remote role in South Africa. You will design, implement, and optimize scalable, secure cloud infrastructures across AWS, Azure, and GCP, guiding pre-sales and post-implementation activities.

You will lead architectural design, IaC with Terraform/Ansible/CloudFormation, and work with DevOps to ensure cost-efficient, resilient solutions for diverse clients.

Qualifications

• 7+ years IT infrastructure experience with 4+ years in cloud design.
• Hands-on with AWS, Azure and/or GCP; IaC expertise.
• Knowledge of networking, security, databases, compute services.
• Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and DevOps/CI-CD practices.
• Cloud certifications are a strong plus.

About the Role

Our client, a global leader in cloud-based enterprise solutions, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Cloud Solutions Architect to join their fully remote team. This is an exciting opportunity to design, implement, and manage robust, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructures for a diverse range of clients. You will be at the forefront of cloud technology, advising on best practices, developing innovative solutions, and ensuring optimal performance and cost-efficiency of cloud deployments. As a Senior Solutions Architect, you will play a key role in pre-sales technical support, solution design, and post-implementation guidance, working remotely from anywhere within South Africa. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), a strong understanding of infrastructure as code, and a proven ability to translate complex business requirements into effective cloud architectures.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement comprehensive cloud solutions leveraging AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
• Develop architectural blueprints, strategies, and roadmaps for cloud adoption and migration.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams during the implementation phase.
• Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-optimized.
• Collaborate with sales and client teams to understand business needs and design tailored cloud solutions.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud infrastructure issues.
• Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and industry best practices.
• Conduct architectural reviews and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Document architectural designs, standards, and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, with a minimum of 4 years focused on cloud architecture and design.
• In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with at least two major cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
• Proven experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• Strong understanding of networking, security, databases, and compute services within cloud environments.
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, GCP Professional Cloud Architect) are a significant advantage.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
