Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Senior Civil Engineer specializing in Geotechnical Engineering to join our client in Stellenbosch. The role combines site work with office-based analysis, focusing on subsurface conditions, foundations, earthworks, and retaining structures.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s in Geotechnical Engineering, 8+ years of geotechnical experience, PrEng registration with ECSA, and proficiency with PLAXIS and GeoStudio.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a Geotechnical specialization.
• Minimum 8 years in geotechnical engineering practice.
• PrEng registration with ECSA is required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise geotechnical investigations including site reconnaissance, drilling, and sampling.
• Analyze soil and rock data to assess ground conditions and bearing capacity.
• Design foundations (shallow and deep), earth retaining structures, and slope stabilization measures.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports with design and construction recommendations.
• Provide technical support during construction and ensure compliance with standards and safety regulations.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Civil Engineer with a strong background in Geotechnical Engineering to join their team in Stellenbosch . This role involves assessing subsurface conditions and designing foundations, earthworks, and retaining structures for a variety of construction projects. You will provide expert advice on soil mechanics, slope stability, and ground improvement techniques. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in geotechnical investigations, analysis, and reporting, contributing significantly to the successful execution of complex projects in the Western Cape region. This position offers a blend of site work and office-based analysis within a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise geotechnical investigations, including site reconnaissance, drilling, and sampling.
• Analyze soil and rock mechanics data to assess ground conditions and bearing capacity.
• Design foundations (shallow and deep), earth retaining structures, and slope stabilization measures.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, including recommendations for design and construction.
• Provide technical support during the construction phase, addressing geotechnical challenges as they arise.
• Ensure compliance with relevant geotechnical standards and safety regulations.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in geotechnical engineering practice.
• Professional Engineer (PrEng) registration with ECSA is required.
