Job summary

BVi Consulting Engineers (Pty) Ltd in Cape Town seeks a seasoned Professional Civil Engineer with pump station, bulk water and sewer project experience to lead a design team and coordinate with stakeholders. You will drive technical excellence and mentor junior engineers in a professional consultancy setting.

The role requires strong project management, client liaison and reporting skills, with a proactive, self-starting approach to manage multiple projects from feasibility to close-out.

Qualifications

• BEng/BSc/BTech in Civil Engineering.
• Registered with ECSA as a PrEng or PrTech for more than 5 years.
• Minimum 15 years post-graduate experience within a civil engineering consultancy office.
• Extensive Contract and Project Management experience is advantageous, especially on City of Cape Town projects.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Pro-active and self-starter approach.
• Experience liaising with Clients, Contractors and Stakeholders.
• Experience in compiling reports for all stages of project implementation and good technical report writing skills.
• Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Strong teamwork skills.
• Proficient in: AutoCAD, Civil 3D; MS Office Suite

Responsibilities

• Project leader and Client liaison for private & public civil engineering projects.
• Compilation of Feasibility-, Design- Tender Adjudication Reports and Project Close-Out Reports.
• Compilation of Technical Specification, Tenders Specifications and Tender Documents.
• Conduct site progress- & technical minutes and site inspections.
• Project Lifecycle Management: Managing of project from Feasibility stage throughout to project close-out, including overall contract management.
• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients, contractors, and relevant local authorities.
• Ensure BVi design standards, technical specifications, and drawing quality are consistently maintained.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to skills development within the team.
• Contribute to internal departmental planning and management - forecasting, invoicing, staff, etc.
