Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Civil Design Engineer (Roads & Highways) in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. You will lead design efforts for road networks and highways, mentor junior engineers, and ensure technical excellence and compliance with standards.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's in Civil Engineering (Transportation/Highway) and Pr. Eng. with 8+ years of experience, with proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MXRoads. This role is based in our Mpumalanga office.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Transportation or Highway Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in roads and highways design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MXRoads or similar.
• Experience with traffic analysis and modeling tools is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of road and highway projects, from conceptualization to detailed design.
• Perform geometric design, intersection design, pavement design, and drainage calculations.
• Prepare comprehensive design drawings, specifications, tender documents, and reports.
• Conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and traffic impact analyses.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant South African national standards (e.g., SANS), municipal regulations, and client requirements.
• Collaborate with project managers, other engineering disciplines, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
• Mentor and guide junior civil engineers, fostering their technical development.
• Review designs prepared by others and provide constructive feedback.
