Job summary

Placements24, on behalf of a prestigious academic institution in Kimberley, Northern Cape, seeks a Senior Chemistry Educator to deliver high-quality chemistry instruction to Grades 10-12 and prepare students for national examinations.

The successful candidate will lead curriculum development, manage a science laboratory safely, mentor junior teachers, and collaborate with the Science department to enhance teaching and learning, while upholding SA curriculum standards and SACE registration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Chemistry plus a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Minimum 6 years of secondary Chemistry teaching experience.
• Thorough knowledge of South African national curriculum requirements for Chemistry at the FET level.
• Proven classroom management and ability to engage students in scientific inquiry.
• SACE registration is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Deliver dynamic Chemistry lessons to Grades 10-12 aligned with the national curriculum.
• Design and conduct laboratory experiments and demonstrations with safety oversight.
• Assess student progress using tests, assignments, practicals, and projects with constructive feedback.
• Create an inclusive classroom that fosters critical thinking and scientific inquiry.
• Collaborate with the Science department to enhance curriculum delivery and resource development.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulations.
• Mentor junior Chemistry teachers and share best practices.
• Keep accurate records of student performance and communicate with parents and school administration.
• Participate in departmental meetings, professional development, and school events.
