Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Lead Science Teacher to head the high school Science department in Kimberley, Northern Cape. You will steer physics, chemistry, and biology curricula, mentor peers, and drive an innovative program that challenges students to excel.

This role requires a master’s in science, a PGCE, and at least seven years of high school teaching with leadership experience. You will lead safety-compliant laboratories, coordinate assessments, and shape strategic educational initiatives.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Science (Physics, Chemistry, or Biology) required.
• PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification required.
• Minimum 7 years of high school science teaching, with at least 3 years in leadership.
• Proven curriculum development and pedagogical innovation in science education.
• Experience leading a team of teachers and budget management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee high school science teaching (Physics, Chemistry, Biology).
• Develop and implement an innovative science curriculum aligned with standards.
• Mentor and provide professional development to science teachers.
• Assess student performance and implement targeted interventions.
• Manage department budget and resources.
• Organize science-related clubs, competitions, and labs.
• Ensure safe laboratory practices and equipment management.
