Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Chemical Research Scientist to lead innovative R&D initiatives in Sandton. The role focuses on developing new synthesis routes, materials, and product technologies, driving scientific discovery and IP.

You will conduct advanced research, interpret complex results, and contribute to a collaborative, well-resourced environment, mentoring junior staff along the way.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or closely related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of post-doctoral or industrial research experience.
• Proven track record in synthetic chemistry, catalysis, or materials science.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute complex research projects focused on new chemical synthesis and material development.
• Develop and optimize laboratory-scale processes, troubleshoot experimental challenges, and interpret data.
• Stay abreast of the latest scientific literature and advancements in relevant fields.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate findings into viable applications.
• Author technical reports, research papers, and patent applications.
• Mentor junior research staff and contribute to a culture of scientific excellence.
