Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Chemical Plant Manager in Bloemfontein to drive production, safety, quality and financial performance across a large processing facility.

You will lead a diverse team of engineers and operators, implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, manage budgets, and partner with corporate leadership on capital investments while ensuring regulatory compliance and community relations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field; MBA or Master's is a plus.
• Minimum of 10 years in chemical plant operations management.
• Proven leadership experience with large teams.
• Knowledge of chemical manufacturing, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong financial acumen and budget management.
• Problem-solving, decision-making and strategic planning skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience desirable.
• On-site in Bloemfontein; able to operate 24/7.

Responsibilities

• Oversee plant operations, including production planning, scheduling, and execution.
• Ensure strict safety, health, environmental compliance and policy adherence.
• Manage plant budget, control costs and optimize resources.
• Lead and motivate engineers, technicians, and operators.
