Job summary

Placements24 is seeking aSenior Chemical Engineer for our Bloemfontein operations. You will ensure safe, efficient plant operations, provide technical troubleshooting, and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs.

The role requires a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering and at least 7 years of experience in chemical plant operations and process engineering, with strong PSM & HAZOP expertise and leadership ability.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in chemical plant operations and process engineering.
• Strong knowledge of chemical processes, unit operations, and process control systems.
• Proven experience in process safety management (PSM) and hazard analysis (HAZOP).
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and optimize day-to-day chemical plant operations to meet production targets safely and efficiently.
• Provide expert technical support for process troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
• Lead process improvement projects aimed at increasing yield, reducing energy consumption, and minimizing waste.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and provide training to plant personnel.
• Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to ensure equipment reliability and process integrity.
