Placements24 is seeking a Senior Biophysicist to join a leading R&D team in Midrand, Gauteng. The role focuses on exploring novel biomaterials for medical devices and sustainable technologies, leveraging biology and physics to push material science forward.

You will design, test, and characterize biomaterials, collaborate with chemists, engineers and biologists, publish findings, and mentor junior researchers while ensuring laboratory safety.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Biophysics, Physics, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral research experience in biomaterials or biophysics.
• Proven track record of publications in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
• Expertise in spectroscopy, microscopy, and other biophysical characterization techniques.

Responsibilities

• Conduct advanced research on the physical properties of biological materials and their interactions.
• Design, synthesize, and characterize novel biomaterials for specific applications.
• Develop and implement experimental protocols for material testing and validation.
• Analyze complex data sets using advanced statistical methods and computational tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
• Prepare detailed research reports, scientific publications, and patent applications.
