Placements24 is seeking a Senior Backend Developer to join a fully remote engineering team across South Africa. You will architect and implement scalable backend systems powering critical business operations and mentor junior developers.

You’ll design microservices, implement APIs (REST/gRPC), work with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and deploy via CI/CD. The role emphasizes cloud platforms, Docker/Kubernetes, testing, and strong collaboration in a remote-first culture.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend experience.
• Designing and building scalable microservices architectures.
• Expertise in one or more backend languages (Python, Go, Java, Node.js).
• Deep understanding of PostgreSQL/MySQL/MongoDB databases and data modeling.
• Experience with RESTful and gRPC APIs and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Proficient with Docker/Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong testing practices and code quality focus.
• Excellent communication for remote collaboration.
