Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Automotive Embedded Systems Engineer to join its Randburg-based engineering team. The role focuses on design, development and integration of embedded software and hardware for ECUs, with emphasis on real-time performance and automotive safety.

You will work across mechanical and systems engineers, using C/C++ and RTOS for ECU software, and collaborate on HW/SW co-design, testing, and integration of CAN/LIN networks and AUTOSAR standards in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in embedded systems development, with a focus on automotive applications.
• Strong proficiency in C and C++ programming for embedded systems.
• Experience with microcontrollers, debugging tools (e.g., JTAG, oscilloscopes), and RTOS.
• Familiarity with automotive communication protocols and industry standards (e.g., AUTOSAR).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test embedded software for automotive electronic control units (ECUs) using C/C++ and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
• Integrate embedded systems with sensors, actuators, and communication networks (e.g., CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet).
• Perform hardware/software co-design and debugging, ensuring seamless system functionality.
• Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and system tests to validate embedded software performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical and systems engineers, to define requirements and resolve technical challenges.
