Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Automotive Electronics Engineer in Randburg, Gauteng. The role centers on designing, developing, and integrating electronic systems for next-gen vehicles, including ECUs, PCBs, and sensor interfaces.

You will collaborate with embedded software teams to ensure robust hardware-software integration. You should have extensive experience with automotive protocols and ISO 26262, and thrive in a hybrid work environment, balancing on-site collaboration with remote work

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Electronics engineering.
• 7+ years of automotive electronics design experience.
• Experience with Altium Designer or OrCAD for schematic capture and PCB layouts.
• Familiarity with ISO 26262 and cybersecurity in automotive applications.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop automotive electronic circuits and systems, including PCBs and power supplies.
• Specify and select automotive-grade components with reliability in mind.
• Develop and integrate ECUs and other modules into vehicle architectures.
• Collaborate with embedded software engineers for hardware-software integration.
• Implement and test CAN, LIN, Ethernet, and FlexRay interfaces.
• Conduct design reviews, FMEA, and risk assessments.
• Troubleshoot hardware issues during development, validation, and production.
• Perform hardware testing using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and logic analyzers.
• Coordinate with suppliers for component quality and timely delivery.
• Stay updated with automotive electronics standards and functional safety.
