Job summary

Placements24 in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, seeks a Senior Automotive Electronics Engineer to design, develop and validate ECUs and integrated vehicle electronics. The role covers powertrain control, body electronics, and infotainment with a strong emphasis on embedded systems.

You will lead embedded software development in C/C++, work with CAN/LIN/Ethernet networks, and collaborate across mechanical and software teams to deliver robust, standards-compliant solutions in a hybrid work

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
• 7+ years in automotive electronics design.
• Experience in embedded C/C++ programming.
• Strong analog and digital circuit knowledge.
• Experience with CAN/LIN/Ethernet.
• Familiarity with automotive safety standards (ISO 26262) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop automotive electronic circuits and systems, including PCBs and component selection.
• Create detailed schematics and layouts using EDA tools (e.g., Altium Designer, OrCAD).
• Develop and debug embedded software for microcontrollers and microprocessors used in automotive applications.
• Integrate electronic systems with other vehicle components and networks (CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
• Perform design validation and verification through simulation, prototyping, and laboratory testing.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers and software developers to ensure system compatibility and performance.
• Analyze test results, troubleshoot issues, and implement design improvements.
• Document designs, test procedures, and technical specifications.
• Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in automotive electronics and embedded systems.
• Ensure compliance with automotive quality standards and regulatory requirements.
