About the Role

Our client, a distinguished automotive manufacturer, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Automotive Chassis Systems Engineer to enhance the driving dynamics and structural integrity of their vehicle portfolio. This role is based in Polokwane, Limpopo , and is crucial for optimizing vehicle performance through advanced chassis design and integration. You will be involved in the entire lifecycle of chassis components, from conceptualization and design to testing and validation. This is an on-site position requiring close collaboration with manufacturing and vehicle integration teams within our client's Polokwane facility. Your expertise will be key to delivering vehicles that offer exceptional handling, comfort, and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and integrate automotive chassis systems, including suspension, steering, braking, and structural components. Perform simulations and analyze data to optimize chassis performance for ride, handling, and NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness). Collaborate with vehicle integration teams to ensure seamless implementation of chassis designs into vehicle platforms. Develop and execute test plans for chassis components and systems, both in simulation and physical testing. Work closely with suppliers to specify and procure chassis-related components. Troubleshoot and resolve design and performance issues throughout the development process. Stay current with automotive chassis technologies and industry best practices. Ensure designs meet all relevant safety regulations and performance targets for vehicles produced in the Polokwane region. Contribute to the continuous improvement of chassis design processes and tools.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 6 years of experience in automotive chassis systems engineering. Proven experience in suspension, steering, and braking system design. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) and CAE tools for structural and dynamic analysis (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus). Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics principles. Experience with vehicle testing and data acquisition. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and teamwork skills, essential for an on-site role in Limpopo. Familiarity with automotive manufacturing processes is an advantage.
