Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Automotive Chassis Systems Engineer for an on-site role in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, ZA. You will lead the design, development, and integration of chassis systems, collaborating with dynamics, testing, and manufacturing teams to deliver robust, high-performance solutions.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in automotive chassis design, strong CAD/CAE proficiency (CATIA, SolidWorks, ANSYS), and experience with DVP&R and DFMEA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in automotive chassis systems design and development.
• Proficiency with CAD/CAE tools (CATIA, SolidWorks, ANSYS).
• Experience with DVP&R and DFMEA.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and integration of automotive chassis systems, including suspension, steering, and braking components.
• Define system requirements and translate them into detailed design specifications.
• Perform complex engineering analysis, including FEA, for structural and dynamic performance.
• Collaborate with vehicle dynamics specialists to achieve target ride and handling characteristics.
• Work closely with manufacturing and supply chain teams to ensure designs are producible and cost-effective.
• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for chassis components and systems.
• Analyze test data and vehicle performance feedback to implement design improvements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to chassis performance, durability, and NVH.

• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) and CAE tools (e.g., ANSYS, MSC Nastran).
• Experience with DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report) and DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in an on-site team environment.
• Experience with NVH analysis and mitigation techniques is a plus.
• Knowledge of automotive safety standards and regulations.
