Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Automation Engineer to join a globally distributed team, working remotely from Welkom or any approved location. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced automation systems that boost efficiency and productivity across operations.

You will design, develop, and deploy automation solutions, work with international teams on PLCs, SCADA, HMI, and robotics, and stay ahead of emerging technologies to improve performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years in industrial automation engineering.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens, Rockwell), HMI, and SCADA.
• Experience with FANUC or KUKA robotics and industrial networks.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with remote work in mind.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy automation systems including PLCs, SCADA, and HMI.
• Program and troubleshoot robotic systems across manufacturing lines.
• Create feasibility studies and technical specs for new automation projects.
• Provide remote technical support and troubleshooting globally.
• Collaborate to define automation strategies and best practices.
• Evaluate emerging automation technologies for possible use.
