Job summary

F&M Staff Solutions is seeking an experienced electrical design consultant to deliver MV/LV designs, earthing, lighting and single-line diagrams. The role requires independence, client interaction, and strong BIM execution across projects in building services and industrial settings.

The candidate will work in a hybrid environment, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to drive project delivery, using BIM tools and industry standards. Occasional travel across SA and Africa is expected.

Qualifications

• BEng/BSc/BTech in Electrical Engineering.
• Pr Eng/Pr Tech Eng or Candidate Engineer eligible.
• 7+ years' consulting engineering in building services/industrial settings.
• Knowledge of SANS 10142-1&2, 10400, 204; JBCC/FIDIC/NEC contracts.
• Autodesk BIM (Revit, Navisworks, Glue, Field); Relux/Dialux, CBi/Ecodial/ETAP; MS Office.
• Strong English communication and client engagement.
• Able to travel within SA and Africa; SA citizen/permanent resident.

Responsibilities

• Develop reticulation, generators, UPS, and building management systems.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and manage project deadlines.

You will provide consulting designs for MV/LV, earthing, power, lighting, single-line diagrams, reticulation, generators, UPS, fire detection/alarms, data, CCTV, access control, intruder alarms and building management systems. Hybrid role (3 days in-office per week).

REQUIREMENTS

• BEng/BSc/BTech in Electrical Engineering.
• ECSA Pr Eng/Pr Tech Eng, or Candidate Engineer eligible to apply for professional registration.
• 7+ years' consulting engineering in building services and/or industrial settings; SAQCC registration advantageous.
• Knowledge of SANS 10142-1&2, 10400, 204; JBCC/FIDIC/NEC contracts; MV/LV reticulation; standby changeovers, synchronising and sizing; renewables; latest lighting/UPS technology.
• Autodesk BIM (Revit, Navisworks, Glue, Field); Relux/Dialux, CBi/Ecodial/ETAP; advanced MS Office.
• Strong English communication/report writing via email, phone and meetings; confident, calm engagement with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
• Own designs independently with minimal oversight; precise peer/BIM reviews for sign-off; manage projects and tight deadlines; team player.
• Proactive, self-motivated, ambitious and creative; drive internal efficiencies; solve client, architectural and interior-design challenges; contribute in cross-discipline meetings; market services and build relationships.
• Driver's licence, own transport; able/willing to travel within SA and Africa.
• SA citizen/permanent resident; no criminal record (verified).
