Job summary

Aggreko is seeking a Principal Application Engineer in Kempton Park to serve as a senior technical authority on power generation and renewable energy projects. You will translate customer requirements into robust, economically viable solutions and lead outline engineering for high-value tenders.

You will work with Sales, Project Engineering and Commercial teams to validate concepts, deliver technical overviews, and train teams on new technologies. Travel internationally within Africa is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required; Chartered Engineer status is preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in power engineering and/or renewable energy applications.
• Strong technical knowledge of power generation equipment, energy storage systems, solar PV and related infrastructure.
• Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, with resilience, objectivity, and cultural sensitivity in global environments.
• Experience managing complex technical inputs for large-scale proposals and supporting pre-sales or customer-facing engineering activities.

Responsibilities

• Develop customer‑focused engineered solutions by collaborating closely with Sales teams and understanding application requirements.
• Lead concept development and outline engineering for complex enquiries, including RFQs and tenders exceeding $10M USD.
• Provide technical expertise in customer meetings, delivering application overviews and technical sales training on new and existing technologies.
• Work with Project Engineering teams to validate and refine proposed technical solutions and build local project capability.
• Advise Commercial teams on technical bid components, material specifications, and costing inputs for bespoke equipment.
• Ensure all engineering deliverables meet operational excellence standards and comply with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
