About the Role

Our client, a premier entity in the Arts & Entertainment sector, is actively seeking an experienced Senior Animator & Visual Effects Artist to become an integral part of their creative hub in Tembisa, Gauteng, ZA . This is a studio-based position requiring full-time dedication within our vibrant artistic community. The ideal candidate will possess a masterful command over animation principles and a profound understanding of visual effects, contributing significantly to the visual storytelling of our diverse projects. You will be responsible for bringing characters and environments to life through stunning animation and crafting breathtaking visual effects that enhance the overall aesthetic and narrative impact. Key Responsibilities

• Create high-quality character and environment animations, including keyframe animation, motion capture cleanup, and procedural animation.


• Design and execute compelling visual effects, such as explosions, magic, environmental phenomena, and futuristic technology.


• Collaborate with directors, art directors, and game designers to ensure animation and VFX align with the project's vision and style.


• Develop and refine animation rigs and VFX systems to optimize performance and visual quality.


• Stay current with the latest animation and VFX techniques, software, and industry trends.


• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior animators and VFX artists.


• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to animation and VFX pipelines.


• Contribute to the overall artistic direction and visual language of projects.


• Manage time effectively to meet project deadlines and milestones.


• Participate in review sessions, offering and receiving constructive feedback.

Requirements

• A strong demo reel showcasing advanced animation skills and impressive visual effects work across various styles.


• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in animation and/or visual effects for film, television, or video games.


• Proficiency in industry-standard 3D software such as Maya, Blender, 3ds Max, and Houdini.


• Expertise in animation software like Cinema 4D or specific game engine tools.


• Advanced knowledge of visual effects software such as After Effects, Nuke, or similar compositing tools.


• Strong understanding of anatomy, physics, timing, and weight in animation.


• Experience with particle systems, simulations (fluids, smoke, fire), and shaders.


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.


• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.


• A keen artistic eye for composition, color, and detail.


• Passion for storytelling and the Arts & Entertainment industry.


• Bachelor’s degree in Animation, Fine Arts, Computer Graphics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
