Placements24 is seeking a Lead Air Traffic Controller for our client in Benoni, Gauteng, ZA. The role oversees the control tower, mentors controllers and ensures safe, efficient air traffic flow in a challenging airspace.

The candidate brings 8+ years ATC experience with leadership, strong decision-making, and deep knowledge of ATC systems; calm under pressure and excellent communication are essential. This is a high-responsibility, senior position within a busy facility.

Qualifications

• Valid Air Traffic Controller license issued by the relevant aviation authority.
• Minimum 8 years as ATC with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Proven ability to manage complex air traffic scenarios.
• Strong knowledge of ATC principles, procedures and tech.
• Excellent communication, decision-making and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily operations of the air traffic control unit.
• Ensure safe and efficient flow of traffic in assigned airspace.
• Develop and implement procedures to improve safety and efficiency.
• Train, mentor and evaluate performance of controllers.
• Monitor weather and advise pilots of meteorological info.
• Coordinate with adjacent centres and stakeholders.
• Manage incidents and emergencies effectively.
• Conduct safety assessments and implement actions.
• Maintain proficiency in ATC equipment and systems.
• Ensure compliance with national and international regulations.
