Job summary

Psybergate (Pty) Ltd is seeking an experienced ML/AI Engineer to design, deploy, and monitor production-grade ML solutions. You will work with Databricks, MLflow, Model Serving, and cloud platforms to build scalable AI applications including RAG and AI agents.

The role requires strong Python/SQL skills, production experience, and the ability to collaborate with data scientists and platform teams. Remote-friendly with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Econometrics, Mathematical Statistics, Actuarial Science, Data Science or related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in ML/AI engineering, data science or related.
• Strong hands-on experience deploying ML/AI in production environments.
• Experience with MLOps, DevOps, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation.
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with REST API experience.
• Hands-on with Databricks, MLflow, Model Serving, and cloud platforms.
• Experience with AKS, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• Understanding of model deployment, monitoring, drift, observability, and production ops.
• Experience with Apache Spark and distributed computing.
• Practical experience with LLMs, Generative AI, RAG, and AI agents.
• Ability to collaborate with data scientists to productionise models.
• Ability to design scalable, secure, maintainable AI/ML solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype and build production‑grade ML/AI solutions.
• Deploy and monitor ML models and pipelines using Databricks, MLflow and Model Serving.
• Develop AI agents, Generative AI solutions, and RAG applications on Databricks.
• Build scalable ML pipelines with MLOps, CI/CD, testing and governance.
• Deploy and operate AI/ML models on AKS, Kubernetes and Docker.
• Create scalable APIs and microservices for AI/ML solutions.
• Monitor model performance, drift and operational health.
• Collaborate with data scientists to productionise models for production services.
• Coordinate with platform, cloud, security and infra teams to deliver secure AI/ML solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues; optimize for performance and cost.
• Establish engineering standards and best practices for AI/ML development.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to teammates.
• Stay current with ML, Generative AI and cloud tech.
