Job summary

Placements24 in Klerksdorp is seeking an AI Ethicist and Governance Lead to establish responsible AI practices within the organization. The role focuses on fair, transparent, accountable, and safe AI deployment, with frameworks, policies, and guidelines to navigate the ethical landscape.

You will collaborate across departments to embed ethical AI principles, addressing regulatory requirements and industry standards, while promoting professional development and responsible innovation.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Philosophy, Law, Ethics, Computer Science with an ethical focus, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in AI ethics, responsible AI, or technology governance.
• Understanding of AI/ML principles, common biases, and societal impacts.
• Familiarity with data privacy regulations (GDPR, POPIA) and their application to AI.
• Excellent analytical, research, and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
• Experience in policy development and implementation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive AI ethics framework and governance strategy.
• Conduct ethical risk assessments for AI projects and provide recommendations for mitigation.
• Advise development teams on ethical considerations, bias detection, and fairness in AI models.
