Placements24 is seeking a Senior Accountant based in George, Western Cape, SA, to lead and optimise the company’s financial operations. The role demands accuracy, IFRS proficiency, and strategic insight, with a focus on governance and robust reporting.

You will oversee AP/AR, GL, payroll, budgeting, and compliance, mentor junior staff, and partner with leadership to drive financial performance and continuous improvement in a hybrid work setup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CA(SA), ACCA, or CIMA is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of IFRS and South African accounting regulations.
• Proficiency in SAP, Oracle and advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to work effectively in a team.
• Experience in a supervisory or leadership role is advantageous.
• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and compliance.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with IFRS and local accounting standards.
• Develop and implement internal controls and accounting policies to ensure the integrity of financial data.
• Manage budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with department heads.
• Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts.
• Assist with financial audits and liaise with external auditors.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management to support strategic decision-making.
• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff.
