Job summary

HotelJobs is recruiting a Senior Accountant to support the Financial Manager and Finance Team at a prestigious wine estate in Stellenbosch. You will handle wine costing, sales analysis, and ledger maintenance, with exposure to SAWIS and excise returns, and annual audit support.

Ideal candidates hold a BCom in Accounting, have 3+ years in the wine industry, and are fluent in English and Afrikaans; Sage Evolution 200 experience and strong accuracy are required.

Qualifications

• BCom Accounting or similar qualification is required.
• Completed SAIPA articles will be advantageous.
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans.

Responsibilities

• Processing wine costing and wine manufacturing data.
• Wine sales and costing analysis.
• Administration of SAWIS and submission of monthly returns.
• Administration of excise and submission of monthly returns.
• Capture of cash book, petty cash, and daily cash-up reconciliation.
• Maintain general ledger including journal entries.
• Administer debtors (local and foreign) including invoicing and collections.
• Administer creditors (local and foreign) including invoicing and reconciliations.
• Handle international payments and FX differences and re-valuations.
• Stock administration including monthly stock take.
• Maintain Fixed Asset Register.
• Insurance policy maintenance and claims handling.
• Assist with Annual Audit.

Main Responsibilities:

• Processing of wine costing and wine manufacturing.
• Wine sales and costing analysis.
• Administration of SAWIS and submission of monthly return.
• Administration of excise and submission of monthly return.
• Capturing of cash book, petty cash and daily cash-up reconciliation.
• General ledger including journal entries.
• Debtors (Local and Foreign) administration including issuing of invoices, and collections.
• Creditors (Local and Foreign) administration including capturing of invoices, reconciliations and loading of payments.
• International payments and calculating foreign exchange differences and re-valuations.
• Stock administration including invoice capturing and monthly stock take.
• Fixed Asset Register maintenance.
• Insurance policy maintenance and handling of claims.
• Assistance with Annual Audit.

Main Requirements:

• B Comm Accounting or similar qualification.
• Completed SAIPA articles will be advantageous.
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
• Preferably more than 3 years’ experience in the wine industry.
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
• Experience working with Sage Evolution 200 or a similar accounting package.
• Previous exposure to Easipos (Point of Sale) will be advantageous.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Taking ownership of duties.
• Ability to maintain a professional working relationship with all departments.
