Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their fully remote finance department, supporting operations including Paarl. The role focuses on ensuring accuracy of financial records, general ledger management, and timely reporting.

The ideal candidate has a CA(SA) or equivalent qualification, at least five years of accounting experience, and strong IFRS/GAAP knowledge, with proficiency in SAP or Oracle and advanced Excel.

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong IFRS/GAAP knowledge and proficiency with SAP or Oracle.

Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes with accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepare and review financial statements, GL reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Ensure IFRS/GAAP compliance and support external audits.
• Support ad-hoc analysis and reporting for the finance team.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and meticulous Senior Accountant to join their fully remote finance department, supporting operations that extend to areas including Paarl . This position plays a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records and reporting. You will oversee various accounting functions, including general ledger management, financial statement preparation, and compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of accounting principles and the ability to manage responsibilities effectively in a remote work environment, collaborating seamlessly with team members across different locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepare and review financial statements, general ledger reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS/GAAP and other relevant accounting regulations.
• Assist with financial audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations to external auditors.
• Support the finance team with ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; CA(SA) or equivalent professional qualification is highly preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
