Job summary

Network Finance is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead month‑end reporting, statutory compliance, VAT, fixed assets, and supplier reconciliations in a high‑volume FMCG environment. You will own month‑end processes, drive process improvements, and assist audits with stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has a BCom in accounting/finance, 3–4 years in finance, and advanced Excel, with SAICA/SAIPA articles advantageous, and ERP experience (OMNI or similar).

• BCom Accounting, Finance, or equivalent tertiary qualification.
• Completed SAICA or SAIPA articles will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

A well-established, nationally recognised organisation within the FMCG and food manufacturing industry is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong accounting professional who enjoys working in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment where compliance, financial reporting, and process improvement are key to business success.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will take ownership of month-end reporting, statutory compliance, VAT, fixed assets, supplier management, and balance sheet reconciliations while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the finance function.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparing and reviewing monthly management accounts and journal entries
• Supporting the budgeting and forecasting process
• Managing month-end close activities and ensuring reporting deadlines are met
• Preparing, reconciling, and submitting VAT returns to SARS
• Managing VAT audits and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements
• Administering Sugar Beverage Levy (SBL) and SBOL payments, reconciliations, and rebate claims
• Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolving reconciling items
• Assisting with both internal and external audits and responding to audit queries
• Maintaining statutory records and ensuring ongoing regulatory compliance
• Managing supplier accounts, reconciliations, credit limits, and payment accuracy
• Overseeing the full fixed asset function, including capitalisation, disposals, asset registers, and annual asset reviews
• Identifying opportunities to improve working capital and implement process automation or digitisation initiatives
• Supporting continuous improvement and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Job Experience and Skills Required:

BCom Accounting, Finance, or equivalent tertiary qualification

Completed SAICA or SAIPA articles will be advantageous

3 - 4 years’ experience in Finance/Accounting.

Minimum 3 years' accounting experience

At least 1 year in a senior accounting or supervisory capacity

Strong experience with management accounts and month-end reporting

Solid knowledge of VAT, statutory compliance, and balance sheet reconciliations

Experience managing fixed assets and supplier accounts

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Experience on OMNI or similar ERP systems will be advantageous
