VACANCY: ACCOUNTANT
The successful applicant will report to the Group Senior Accountant.
Job Description
- Perform daily and monthly financial processing
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of the general ledger
- Bookkeeping up to Trial Balance
- Calculate VAT payable/refundable and submit VAT returns to SARS
- Perform VAT reconciliations
- Review debtors and creditors reconciliations
- Complete balance sheet account reconciliations
- Analyse financial records and transactions
- Monitor and supervise clerical accounting staff
- Provide support and training to administrative employees, assisting with queries and daily operational matters
- Assist external auditors with year-end queries
- Bill expenses across group entities
- Prepare journal entries (daily, ad hoc, and month-end) and support the month-end close process
- Assist with budget and forecast preparation
- Maintain the fixed asset register and manage capex project accounting
- Review wage payroll
- Participate in stock counts
- Prepare monthly and ad hoc management accounts to provide insight into financial performance
Requirements
Minimum Job Requirements
- Relevant accounting qualification
- Proven working experience as an Accountant
- Solid understanding of accounting principles
- Computer literacy and strong data capture skills
- Advanced spreadsheet experience (good knowledge of Excel and formulae)
- Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong analytical skills
- Minimum 5 years' experience within a manufacturing environment (advantageous)
- Sage experience (advantageous)
- Power BI experience (advantageous)
