Job summary

Tangent International is seeking an experienced 4G/5G RAN Optimization Engineer to own radio network performance in Johannesburg. You will focus on advanced optimization, KPI improvements, root-cause analysis and performance enhancements to deliver high network quality and customer experience.

You will optimize LTE and 5G networks end-to-end, analyze KPI data, and collaborate with operations and engineering teams to implement data-driven improvements in a large-scale mobile environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of dedicated wireless network optimization experience.
• Strong expertise in LTE and 5G NR optimization and performance improvement.
• Deep knowledge of RAN architecture, air interface technologies, and mobility management.
• Hands-on KPI analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize 4G LTE and 5G NR network performance across multi-vendor environments.
• Monitor and analyze network KPIs to identify performance degradation and improvement opportunities.
• Investigate coverage, capacity, interference, and quality issues and implement corrective actions.
• Perform protocol trace analysis, call flow analysis, and mobility troubleshooting.
• Execute advanced RAN parameter tuning and feature optimization activities.
• Conduct root cause analysis on complex radio network performance issues.
• Utilize optimization tools including TEMS, Nemo, WNG, NGI, NetMax, and CEMS for network analysis.
• Analyze drive test and measurement data to identify and resolve network deficiencies.
• Develop KPI reports, dashboards, and technical presentations for management and stakeholders.
• Support operator escalations and provide expert-level technical troubleshooting.
