Job summary

Tangent International is seeking a skilled 4G/5G Wireless Back Office Engineer to support delivery, integration, operations, and troubleshooting of mobile network infrastructure in Johannesburg, South Africa. This contract role requires strong RAN, microwave, and network operations experience to maintain high-performing wireless networks.

Responsibilities include deployment, monitoring, KPI analysis, log extraction, and collaboration with RAN, transmission, and NOC teams.

Qualifications

3–5+ years in wireless telecom environments.
Experience with 4G/5G delivery, integration, operations, or optimization.
Experience in BO/TAC/NOC environments.
Strong understanding of 4G/5G RAN architecture and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of wireless KPI methodologies.
Familiarity with microwave transmission and link management.
Proficient TCP/IP, routing, switching concepts.
Packet capture and troubleshooting tools usage.

Responsibilities

Support deployment, integration, and maintenance of 4G/5G wireless network infrastructure.
Monitor performance and investigate alarms, incidents, and faults.
Perform KPI analysis and troubleshoot RAN performance issues.
Extract and analyze network logs to identify problems.
Provide escalation support for BO/TAC/NOC activities.
Assist in microwave transmission monitoring and maintenance.
Conduct packet capture and protocol analysis with tools like Wireshark.
Collaborate with RAN, transmission, and operations teams to ensure network availability.
Produce technical reports and root-cause analyses.
Contribute to network optimization and continuous improvement.
