Placements24 in Vereeniging, Gauteng, is seeking a Senior 3D Modeler for on-site work in a visual effects studio. You will create high- and low-polygon models of characters, props, and environments, develop UV layouts, and generate PBR textures to meet artistic and technical requirements.

The role requires a strong portfolio and 5+ years in VFX/film, with expertise in Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, ZBrush, and Substance Painter.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a 3D Modeler in VFX, film, or games.
• A strong portfolio showcasing exceptional modeling skills across various asset types.
• Expertise in industry-standard 3D modeling software and texturing tools.
• Proficiency in creating detailed UVs and PBR textures.
• Solid understanding of topology, form, and anatomy for realistic or stylized results.
• Experience with retopology and optimizing models for animation and rendering.
• Ability to interpret concept art and translate it into 3D assets.
• Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Create high-polygon and low-polygon 3D models of characters, creatures, props, and environments.
• Develop detailed UV layouts and texture maps, ensuring efficient and visually appealing results.
• Sculpt organic and hard-surface models with exceptional accuracy and detail.
• Ensure models are optimized for various pipelines, including rigging, animation, and rendering.
• Collaborate closely with art directors, supervisors, and other artists to interpret and execute creative vision.
• Adhere to project-specific technical requirements and asset management protocols.
• Troubleshoot and resolve modeling-related issues.
• Stay current with the latest 3D modeling techniques, software, and industry trends.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior modelers.
