Job summary

SA Metal Group seeks a Semi-Skilled Fitter for its Machine Shop in Cape Town. You will perform roll assembly, disassembly, and support production with inspections and basic measurements. The role requires hands-on capability, adherence to safety standards, and the willingness to work overtime as needed.

Experience in the engineering or metal industry and proficiency with power tools are essential. The position offers a permanent contract with Provident Fund and other benefits.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years relevant working experience within the engineering or metal industry.
• Knowledge and use of power tools.
• Strong hand-eye coordination and physical fitness.
• Willingness to work weekends and overtime when required.

Responsibilities

• Roll Assembly and disassembly of rolling mill components.
• Clean and degrease mechanical parts for inspection and reassembly.
• Mount and fit heavy-duty bearings onto roll necks using tools.
• Perform basic measurements to verify clearances and tolerances.
• Support production and inspect rolls and bearings for wear or damage.
• Adhere to workshop safety standards and housekeeping requirements.
