Placements24 is seeking a seasoned and decisive Security Operations Center (SOC) Manager to lead its Port Elizabeth SOC. You will oversee daily operations, monitoring, detection, analysis and response to cyber threats, and manage a team of SOC analysts.

You will develop and refine playbooks, coordinate incident response, and continuously improve detection capabilities. The role requires extensive SOC experience, strong leadership, and expertise with SIEM, SOAR, IDS/IPS and EDR.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in cybersecurity operations, with at least 2 years in a SOC management or team lead role.
• Proven experience with SIEM, SOAR, IDS/IPS, EDR, and other SOC technologies.
• Strong understanding of threat landscapes, attack vectors, and incident response methodologies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills required for managing a SOC in Port Elizabeth.

Responsibilities

• Manage and mentor the SOC analyst team, ensuring 24/7 coverage and high-quality incident handling.
• Oversee the operation and tuning of security monitoring tools, including SIEM, IDS/IPS, and EDR solutions.
• Develop, implement, and maintain SOC procedures, playbooks, and escalation protocols.
• Lead and coordinate incident response activities, ensuring swift and effective containment and remediation of security events.
• Analyze security alerts and threat intelligence to identify malicious activity and trends.
• Report on SOC performance metrics, incident trends, and security posture to senior management in Port Elizabeth.
