About the Role

Our client is looking for a vigilant and skilled Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst to join their cybersecurity team. Operating in a hybrid capacity, you will be instrumental in monitoring security alerts, detecting threats, and responding to security incidents in real-time. This role requires a sharp, detail-oriented individual committed to protecting the organization's digital assets. You will work collaboratively with a team of security professionals to maintain a strong security posture and minimize the impact of cyber threats. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and events from various sources, including SIEM, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security solutions.
• Analyze security incidents, identify root causes, and elevate critical issues according to established procedures.
• Perform initial triage of security alerts, differentiating between true positives and false positives.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of SOC playbooks and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Assist in the investigation of security incidents, including data collection and preliminary analysis.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and security trends.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 1-3 years of experience in a cybersecurity role, preferably in a SOC environment or with security monitoring tools.
• Familiarity with SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, LogRhythm) and other security technologies.
• Understanding of networking concepts, operating systems, and common attack vectors.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
• Good communication skills, essential for reporting and collaborating within a hybrid team structure in Vereeniging .
