About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and proactive Cybersecurity Operations Specialist to join their team in Richards Bay . This role focuses on the day-to-day monitoring, detection, and initial response to security threats and incidents. You will be a key player in the Security Operations Center (SOC), ensuring the continuous protection of the organization's infrastructure and data. The hybrid work model allows for effective team collaboration while maintaining a degree of flexibility. You will work closely with senior security personnel to uphold the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive information.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and logs from various sources, including SIEM, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security tools.
• Perform initial analysis and triage of security incidents, identifying potential threats and recommending appropriate actions.
• Respond to security alerts and escalated critical incidents to senior analysts or incident response teams.
• Assist in the maintenance and tuning of security monitoring tools to optimize detection capabilities.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of incident response playbooks and procedures.
• Participate in threat hunting activities to proactively identify and neutralize potential risks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., Security+, CySA+) are a plus.
• 1-3 years of experience in cybersecurity operations, network security monitoring, or a similar role.
• Familiarity with SIEM platforms, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and endpoint security technologies.
• Understanding of common cyber threats, attack vectors, and mitigation techniques.
• Good analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Strong communication skills for reporting findings and collaborating with team members.
