Job summary

SA Metal Group (Pty) Ltd is seeking a Security Officer for the Gauteng Knights site. The successful candidate will report to the Security Manager and be responsible for access control, patrols and enforcing company procedures.

Key duties include searching pedestrians and vehicles, issuing PPE, documenting exiting items, maintaining incident reports, and ensuring assets and premises are protected. The role requires Grade 12, PSIRA Grade C, and 2–3 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 educational background.
• PSIRA registration with Grade C.
• 2 to 3 years of relevant security experience.

Responsibilities

• Control access and egress by recording entries and operating gates.
• Search pedestrians, vehicles and belongings exiting SA Metal premises.
• Issue PPE to customers and visitors and collect it on exit.
• Ensure accompanying documentation for items leaving premises.
• Ensure procedures are followed before granting access (breathalyzer tests, etc.).
• Patrol assigned areas at regular intervals.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures at all times.
• Observe and report suspicious activities.
• Keep the Incident Report Book up to date.
• Book in/out and secure empty/full containers/bins.
• Protect SA Metal property and assets; protect all persons on site.
• Perform ad-hoc tasks as instructed by management.
